Salute59 is situated in a tiny island call Galmanduwa in Madu River which connects with the main land via a bridge. The island Galmanduwa spreads around a 15 acres land and it only consists of 35 local residencies. Salute59 is a creation of an undiscovered architect Mr. Albert Silva who completed it in 1959. The property is surrounded by plenty of local fruit trees, flowers, organic vegetables, bamboo trees, and protected mangroves. You can often spot fruit monkeys, mongooses, various birds, and butterflies in our gardens. You can also spot a rare species of Civets in the trees at night. Salute59 is bordering to Madu river which gives you easy access to get on board a boat to do the famous Madu River boat safari from our property’s back garden. Our backyard dock is a fantastic fishing spot if you are a person who enjoys fishing. Delicious lagoon prawns are available to buy from our neighbours as the traditional prawn catching techniques are still in practice among the islanders. As the sunset you can witness some picturesque views of lit oil lamps in bamboo prawn traps around the lagoon.
We offer you this calm location with plenty of nature to explore in and around the island’s friendly local neighbourhood. The property is located just 1Km away from Balapitiya town centre where you can find local markets, shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Beautiful Balapitiya beach is 5 minutes tuk tuk ride away from our property. Famous Hikkaduwa beach is just 17 Km away from Salute59, while Bentota is 16 km from the property.
